So, you're at work, 8 hours a day, plus traveling time, and you get one meal break a day!? Thats not going to do your training much good. You realy need a decent amount of protein every 2 to 3 hours if you want to maximise your results. This isn't always easy while your at work, or even at home, unless you have a live in chef! One solution is protein shakes, but these can get boring, you might not like them, and they may not always be practical. So what to do? Read on.

Top Protein Snacks

So the easy solution for most people is the protein shake, but this isn't always easy, or practical. Next up is the protein bar. Small, easy to take about with you, and packing quite a bit of protein, these are a pretty good solution to keep you going through the day. A much more fun, and I find tasty protein snack is Beef Jerky.

Beef Jerky
You can either buy this, or make it yourself! Beef Jerky is a great protein boost through the day. Very high in protein, and low in carbs and fats, it is well worth the expence. One thing, you shouldn't eat too much of it, as most of it has a lot of salt.

Egg Whites
Egg whites are a great source of protein, although the yolks need to be seperated out as they have a lot of fat and cholestrol in them. You can either do this in a bowl, or by boiling them and just eating the whites. Boiled eggs are pretty easy to have as a snack, and make a good between meal snack.

Peanuts
These are another great protein snack! The only problem with them is the amount of fat they contain, they have a LOT in them. Fortunatly it is good fat, and you do need some in your diet. I like to eat quite a few nuts and rasins, they are a conveniant snack that tastes great, and are great for you.

Cottage Cheese
This is a very cheap high protein snack. Easy to eat, high in protein, and you can get low fat quite easily.

Tuna
Not the easiest thing to have as a snack, but if you can manage it, a can is the perfect high protein snack. You can get them with peel open tops rather than having to use a can opener, and also in jars with twist off tops. It is virtually fat free, and cheap as well.

Summary
If you make use of all the protein snacks listed above, you can eat well throughout the day, get a decent amount of protein cheaply and easily.
